A small announcement to start the Sunday catchup: Willow Wednesdays will be taking the coming week off, as Wednesday is when post #450 to this blog will be going up. Willow Wednesdays won’t be going away for good; there’s still lots of great art by Willow to share! It’ll be back on the 24th.
After the cut: A geek music update!
First, I’ve mentioned The PDX Broadsides, Portland’s nerd folk-pop trio, here a couple of times. They’ve just announced that their new album, Something’s Rotten, will be released on August 30! There’ll be songs about Hamlet, shipping, astronauts, not telling people to smile, and asking Nathan Fillion to remove his trousers. You can preorder it through Bandcamp, and here’s a video from last year of them performing “Smile!”
I linked a while back to Lucia Fasano‘s song “Nerd Boy”, and if you liked it, there’s good news: She’s launched a Kickstarter for her debut album, Radio Silence. She’s already met her base funding goal, but she’s lining up lots of stretch goals that you can help her meet. The Kickstarter page is here, and I’m sharing the music video she did for the album’s title track.
The Doubleclicks have just announced four dates in California next month, with the aforementioned Lucia Fasano opening! They’ll be in Santa Clara 9/18, Oakland 9/19, Burbank 9/20 and West Hollywood 9/21! Their tour schedule page hasn’t been updated yet, so the best place to get more info is on their Facebook page. The Doubleclicks are a great live band, and you should go to see them. I will.
And finally: Has Meri Amber finally reach POWER LEVEL INFINITY? Watch this video to find out!
