Sunday catchup! First, a reminder: If you haven’t done so already, now would be a good time to sign up for the Monkey Queen Books (and more) mailing list! Especially since a mailing will be going out later today…with a first look at my next book! And new subscribers get the Peavley Manor novelette “The Thorn Harbour Road Rally (Or, Macalley Takes The Wheel)” for free! Click here!
After the cut…lotsa stuff. Really.
Our pals at Darksbane Books are celebrating their second publishing anniversary! As part of it, the first book in Annathesa Nikola Darksbane’s Dying Ashes series, Dead Girl’s Ashes, is on sale for just 99 cents US! Head over to Amazon to read a preview and get your copy! Be advised that this is a dark tale, but there’s humor, action, and just a bit of hope.
The Doubleclicks are putting on a live online show this Tuesday, July 18, at 4:00 PM Pacific / 7:00 PM Eastern / 1:00 AM CET Wednesday (more info and links here). This could be a special one, as Angela is moving from Portland to Los Angeles, and no one’s sure yet what this means for future online shows.
So. The new producer of Doctor Who did it. And I’m bummed…that it wasn’t Hayley Atwell.
Seriously, I’m glad that they’re taking this step, and while I’m not familiar with Jodie Whitaker, I’ve been reassured that she is a solid actress. My main concern is that there’ll be flak if Whitaker and the new production crew don’t get off to a brilliant start. Peter Capaldi got a bit of a free pass when he took the role, and it took the show a while to find its legs…but with all the sexist losers out there, ratings-wise Whitaker may not get a pass. I’ll happily watch, though, believe me.
I’m still disappointed that they didn’t bring Pearl Mackie back for another season…but as was pointed out on Twitter, much will be forgiven if Thirteen meets River Song. And you thought that the “Hello, sweetie!” from the last Christmas Special was a classic.
And finally: Holy Hannah.
