Time for a quick Sunday catchup! First: If you somehow missed the news, I had two releases earlier this month. The new edition of Skyblade’s Gambit is out, and is now available worldwide, on Amazon and elsewhere! (Search for the book title or my name at your favorite e-book retailer!) Take to the skies!
Time to take to the skies…again! The new edition of Skyblade’s Gambit is now available! Get it on Amazon! This version has been expanded and rewritten, and is the definitive edition. (Due to last-minute production issues, Skyblade’s Gambit will only be available immediately on Amazon. It should be up on other platforms, including Kobo and iTunes, by the end of the month.) (Also, Skyblade’s Gambit is not suitable for most younger readers.)
Captain Annabel Skyblade commands the Peregrine, the most feared pirate airship to sail the skies of Aldarre, plundering the rich and powerful. The rulers of the great sky realms have had enough of her, and Victorie Brassfeld, Cerindel’s top Navy intelligence agent, has a plan to capture the pirate, using a lure too strong to resist—a valuable, beautiful sapphire amulet. But the amulet hides a great secret, and when it is stolen by sinister forces, Annabel and Victorie must join together to retrieve it. And as they face danger and adventure, they also have to face their feelings for each other, feelings they have never had before, when they discover… Hearts can be stolen too.
You can read a sample of the new edition of Skyblade’s Gambit on Amazon, including an expanded scene with Annabel in action. After the cut, you can read an excerpt from a new scene, featuring Victorie on the job. Enjoy! Continue reading →
It’s been a while, but I wanted to bring everyone up to speed with what’s happening with the Skyblade Saga. It’s been confirmed that as of July 20, I will gain all rights to the stories and characters. The only condition, which I mentioned earlier, is that I need to remove all references to Alex Westmore’s stories, which will be done. My thanks to Sara-Jayne Slack with Inspired Quill Publishing for her help with this!
If you want to obtain the original versions, you still have about a week to get Skyblade’s Gambit and Skyblade’s Claim at Amazon’s US store. I have started work on the new edition of Skyblade’s Gambit, which will be coming out later this year. This version will be available worldwide, on Amazon and other platforms.
Did you want a peek at what’s being added to this new edition? Here’s an excerpt from one of the expanded scenes! (Note that this may not be the final text.)
“Skyblade.” The man in the black clothing and the outlandish tricorn hat holstered his pistolere and pulled his sword arm close to his chest. “Fancy meeting you here.”
“Montalvo,” Annabel hissed. “I thought you were taking a vacation in the dungeons of Kirtorf.”
“You’d be amazed at what a well-timed bribe can accomplish.” Montalvo smiled. “Alas, said bribe left my coffers in rather sad shape. The bounty for bringing you in should help replenish them.”
Stay tuned! Soon, Skyblade and her friends and foes will take to the skies…again!
Skyblade’s Gambit, unlike the Monkey Queen books, doesn’t lend itself to a “behind the scenes” blog post, mostly because it’s not jammed with pop culture references the way Michiko and Beth’s adventures are. I did have some observations, though, along with a Big Secret to reveal about the Skyblade Saga. So, I decided to write an FAQ about this first adventure for Annabel and Victorie. No spoilers this time, but if you were to read Skyblade’s Gambit first, I wouldn’t mind (and if you missed it, head to Amazon and get your copy!).
So, me fine pirate lads and lassies, hoist the mainsail, load yer pistolere, and find out more about the makin’ of this fine pirate treasure of a novella…after the cut! Yarrrr! Continue reading →

We’re just two days away from the December 1 launch of Skyblade’s Gambit, my new novella. There’ll be a preview tomorrow, but today, I wanted to share more information about the project that this novella is part of…after the cut. Continue reading →
The last four weeks, I’ve been working on and hinting at a secret project. At last, I’ve gotten the all-clear to announce it, so here goes…
Coming December 1, an all-new novella, with new characters and adventures…
Captain Annabel Skyblade commands the Peregrine, the most feared pirate airship to sail the skies of Aldarre, plundering the rich and powerful. The rulers of the sky realms have had enough of her, and the kingdom of Cerindel has enlisted top Navy intelligence agent Victorie Brassfeld to capture the pirate, using a lure too strong to resist – a valuable, beautiful sapphire amulet.
But the amulet hides a great secret, and when it is stolen by sinister forces, Annabel and Victorie must join together to retrieve it. And as they face danger and adventure, they also have to face their feelings for each other, feelings they have never had before, when they discover…
Hearts can be stolen too.
I was honored to be asked to be part of this project – Skyblade’s Gambit is part of The Plundered Chronicles, the very first LGBT-themed Kindle Worlds, with stories inspired by the novels of Alex Westmore. My fellow writers and I are taking things in new directions, with adventure, romance, time travel, steampunk, dystopia…and airship pirates!
(Note that as a Kindle Worlds story, Skyblade’s Gambit will only be available through Amazon, and only as an ebook.)
There’ll be official previews and much coming up over the next few days, so stay tuned! I have a load of fun writing Skyblade’s Gambit, and I hope you have fun reading it…and that you’ll want more of Annabel and Victorie!
I thought I'd take a break from incessantly promoting the upcoming Peavley Manor novel (Coming August 27! Preorder today!) to make this announcement.
The individual Peavley Manor novelettes ("Book Fair Frenzy", "The Thorn Harbour Road Rally", "The Missing Mallard", and "The Rebellious Rooster") will be removed from sale this Sunday, August 18.
"Tales Of Peavley Manor", which collects these four stories in one ebook (and in paperback), will still be available, and should be for years to come.
I'm doing this to avoid confusion among readers. Instead of having to figure out which of six titles they need to buy then giving up and going out for a cuppa, now they'll know that they have to just get two books, the novel and the collection of novelettes.
If you still want to buy the individual novelettes, you have until Saturday to do so. However, if you haven't bought any of those, I'd urge you to buy the "Tales" collection instead. Due to Amazon's pricing and royalty structure, it'll be cheaper for you, AND it makes me more money than buying the single volumes! Wins all around!
Do let me know if you have any questions. Thank you, as always, for your time and your support! ...
